Quattroflow
Pumps
How does a pump have to be designed to convey extremely delicate biologically active molecules? A
couple of million years of evolution selected the perfect device to pump albumin, gamma globulins, clotting
factors and cells: it is the heart.
Quattroflow are 4-piston-diaphragm pumps. The stroke of each of the 4 pistons is created by an
eccentric shaft, which is connected to an electric drive. They are specifically designed for the critical
applications in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Whether in cross-flow systems, chromatography devices or
centrifuges, the Quattroflow pumps gently convey aqueous solutions and biological products sensitive to shear
force ranging from blood to vaccines without denaturing them.
Quattroflow pumps are sold worldwide and used at numerous biotech and pharmaceutical companies,
including such industry leaders as Aventis, Baxter, Chiron, Roche, Sandoz, Boehringer Ingelheim.
Benefits
Nearly no pulsation, exact dosing achievable.
Quiet operation.
Pump body made of stainless steel 316L (1.4435), 904L (1.4539), or others, and electopolished as an option. This means low ferrite content
and no problems with high-salt buffers. If stainless steel does not fit, pump body is made of peek.
Few parts and long lifetime diaphragm make the pumps easy to maintain and service.
No mechanical shaft seal, no rotating parts in the fluid mean no leakage, no particle shedding, nearly no
heating a product.
Aseptic clamps.
Self-priming, the pumps can be mounted above a vessel.
Can run dry.
4 directions of flow enable flexible location.
Typical Applications
Feed and recirculation pump in all kinds of cross-flow systems with cassettes, spiralwound,
hollow fibre or ceramic modules.
Feed and/or dosing pump in chromatography systems (product and buffer).
Feed pump for centrifuges, separators and homogenisators.
To pump product solutions through cartridge filter systems (e.g.: fine, sterile filtration, and virus removal).
Examples of media pumped with Quattroflow:
Blood derived plasma protein solutions, such as: Human Serum Albumin, IgG, Clotting factors,
etc.
Cell culture supernatants: monoclonal antibodies, etc.
Cell broths: bacteria, yeast, mammalian cells, etc.
Virus containing broths.
Bacterial and viral vaccines.
Enzyme solutions.
